Rawalpindi’s KRL Stadium Renamed to Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium

The “historic” KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi has been renamed after former pacer Shoaib Akhtar, who is speechless after it was named in his honor.

“Humbled and honored to share that the historic KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi has been renamed as Shoaib Akhtar Stadium,” the former pacer wrote on Twitter.

The world’s fastest bowler said he is “rarely ever speechless,” but he was today after the stadium’s name was changed. “I honestly have no words to express my appreciation for everyone’s love and admiration over the years,” Akhtar said.

He said he did so to “always keep the country’s flag high,” adding that he had always proudly worn the Star and Crescent on his chest. In his service, Akhtar represented Pakistan in 47 Tests, 163 ODIS, and 15 T20Is. The pacer took 444 wickets in international cricket during his career.
