Former Interior Minister and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Rana Sanaullah, responded to comments from the current caretaker security head, Sarfraz Bugti. Bugti had said that if PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif isn’t granted bail when he returns to Pakistan on October 21, he’ll be arrested at the airport, just like what happened in 2018 when Nawaz and his daughter Maryam returned from London.
Sanaullah criticized Bugti for his comments, saying he went too far with them. He warned Bugti by mentioning what happened to former interior minister Sheikh Rashid, suggesting that making such statements can have consequences.
Sanaullah also pointed out that the alleged plot against Nawaz has harmed the country and its people. He advised Bugti to focus on his job instead of trying to gain political points by talking about Nawaz Sharif.
Furthermore, Sanaullah said it’s the people who will decide what happens with Nawaz Sharif on October 21, not the interior minister.
PML-N Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb also cautioned Bugti, saying it’s not his concern where Nawaz Sharif goes after landing, and he should speak with the dignity his political position requires.
