Reuters to Provide Digital Journalism Training in Partnership with Facebook

The Reuters Digital Journalism Course, created in collaboration with the Facebook Journalism Project, was launched by Reuters, the world’s largest multimedia news provider. Journalists may take advantage of free online training to develop their digital newsgathering, verification, and publishing skills, as well as health and resilience tools.

In the coming months, the Reuters Digital Journalism Course will debut in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. The course builds on the popularity of the Reuters manipulated media course, a 16-language e-learning course designed to help newsrooms around the world spot deepfakes and manipulated media.

This year’s Digital News Report from the Reuters Institute warned that “a greater dependence on social media and other outlets gives people access to a broader variety of sources… some of which are at odds with official advice, deceptive, or simply false.” Journalists must learn how to report responsibly, ethically, and objectively as the media environment and news consumption patterns shift.

In four modules, the course provides fresh and experienced journalists with foundational information on digital news reporting through engaging learning materials and hands-on tutorials.
