PM Imran Khan to Inaugurate 1,100-Megawatt K-2 Nuclear Power Plant Tomorrow

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the 1,100 megawatt Kanupp-2 nuclear power plant on Friday, according to sources.

According to Shahbaz Gill, the first nuclear power plant, Kanupp-1, was built in the 1960s, while the new reactor unit is being built almost 60 years later.

Dr. Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication, said on Twitter that the Kanupp-2 nuclear power plant will be operated using G3 technology that is developed with the help of China.

On the 70th anniversary of Pakistan-China friendship, the nuclear power plant will begin producing electricity. As per Gill, this will be the 30th year of nuclear cooperation between the two countries.
