Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a major increase in toll and parking charges, aiming to enhance the city’s transport infrastructure. The revised rates, effective from February 1, will impact both daily commuters and event-goers.
Under the new structure, the “Salik” toll will rise to AED6 during peak hours (6 AM – 10 AM and 4 PM – 8 PM), while off-peak and weekend charges will remain at AED4. This move is expected to regulate traffic flow and reduce congestion during busy hours.
In addition to toll adjustments, event parking near Dubai World Trade Center will now cost AED25 per hour during major events. Meanwhile, regular parking rates remain unchanged at AED4 per hour, though high-demand areas will see an increase to AED6 per hour.
The RTA states that these changes will contribute to long-term improvements in Dubai’s transport network, ensuring smoother and more efficient travel for residents and visitors alike. While the price hike may add to commuter expenses, officials believe it will encourage better traffic management and promote the use of public transport.
