Sajid Sadpara Summits World’s 5th Highest Mountain Makalu Without Supplemental Oxygen

Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara has achieved a great feat. He successfully summited Mount Makalu, the world’s fifth-highest peak at 8,485 metres in Nepal, without using supplemental oxygen. He reached the top around 5 am on May 2, 2026.

This success marks his 10th eight-thousander (peaks above 8,000 metres). Sajid is on a mission to climb all 14 of the world’s highest mountains without extra oxygen. He completed this tough climb as part of a team organised by Seven Summit Treks. The group included two other climbers and seven Sherpas.

Makalu is known as one of the most difficult peaks because of its steep ridges, tricky terrain, and harsh weather. Climbing it without oxygen shows Sajid’s strong endurance, skill, and determination. He arrived in Nepal in early April and reached base camp on April 16.

Sajid is the son of legendary Pakistani climber Muhammad Ali Sadpara, who lost his life on K2 in 2021. He is carrying forward his father’s legacy with honour. Sajid has already summited peaks like Everest, K2 (twice), Nanga Parbat, and others, often setting records for speed and style without oxygen.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan praised his achievement. President Irfan Arshad called it a proud moment for the nation and an inspiration for young climbers. Vice President Karrar Haidri also congratulated him on his courage at a young age.

Sajid’s success brings glory to Pakistan’s mountaineering community and highlights the strength of Pakistani climbers on the global stage.
