Apple is expected to introduce its own foldable phone by 2022, according to reports. The company is working on a foldable with a display that is smaller than its competitors, and it is partnering with LG and Samsung on the device’s panels.
According to news, Samsung will be the primary supplier of foldable panels, with Samsung’s LTPO-based OLED panels being used in the first foldable iPhone. LG will be the secondary provider in the meantime. Cupertino is hoping that its partnership with LG would result in increased production and volume potential while also lowering costs.
Apple is also working on designs for the foldable iPhone. According to rumors, the upcoming foldable will have a clamshell design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z flip and will support Apple Pencil.
Furthermore, analysts predict that the smartphone would be less expensive than competitor models. However, given the rising cost of iPhones, we doubt this would be the case.
