Saud Shakeel Awarded Player of the Match for His Unbeaten 208* in First Innings

In the first Test match in Galle, Saud Shakeel achieved something remarkable by becoming the first Pakistani batsman to score 200 runs in a Test match in Sri Lanka. His incredible innings of 208 not out surpassed the previous highest scores by Pakistani batsmen in Sri Lanka. This achievement also made him the 23rd Pakistani batsman ever to score a double century in Test cricket.

Saud Shakeel’s outstanding performance also earned him another record for scoring the most runs (788) by a Pakistani batsman in just 11 Test innings, surpassing other players like Abdullah Shafique and Javed Miandad.

What’s more, Saud Shakeel became only the second Pakistani batsman in history to score a double century in the first Test match of a series played away from home. The last time this happened for Pakistan was back in 1971 when Zaheer Abbas achieved the same feat.

Due to his exceptional display, Saud Shakeel was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match. He expressed his gratitude to the almighty for giving him the opportunity to score a double hundred. He credited his success to a simple plan and a focus on building partnerships with his teammates during the game.
