Saudi Arabia Announces to Build World’s Largest Modern Downtown in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has announced the launch of a massive proposed structure called New Murabba, which will transform downtown Riyadh into a global metropolis. As part of its Saudi Vision 2030 plan, Saudi Arabia seeks to create the largest contemporary downtown in the world in Riyadh.


The new development, which will cover an area of 19 square kilometres, will include more than 104,000 residential units, 9,000 hotel rooms, more than 980,000 square metres of retail space, 1.4 million square metres of office space, 620,000 square metres of leisure assets, and 1.8 million square metres of space devoted to community facilities. It will also include more than 1.4 million square metres of office space.

The greatest modern urban centre in the world will be erected in Riyadh, according to Arab media, and it will be developed with a focus on sustainability, featuring green areas, pedestrian and cycling areas, and will be managed by a business led by the Saudi crown prince.


It will have more than 80 entertainment and cultural establishments, a museum, a technology and design institution, a multipurpose spectacular theatre, and dedicated avenues that aim to promote an active lifestyle.
