Saudi Arabia Wins to Host ‘World Expo 2030’ in Riyadh

Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, has been awarded the privilege of hosting World Expo 2030. With the theme “The Era of Change:

Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow,” the Riyadh Expo is scheduled to take place from October 2030 to March 2031.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), along with Italy and South Korea, actively campaigned for the prestigious event, held every five years.

The selection of Riyadh as the host city reflects the efforts led by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, a strategic roadmap leveraging the nation’s strengths.

This accomplishment follows Saudi Arabia’s successful bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034. The World Expo, originating from the Great Exhibition in London in 1851, is a global event addressing contemporary issues.

The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Paris oversees the Expo, with member states casting votes to determine the host.

Riyadh’s selection for World Expo 2030 was confirmed after the final bid presentations at the BIE general assembly in Paris.

The upcoming World Expo, themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” is scheduled for 2025 in Osaka, Japan, while Dubai hosted the most recent one in 2020.
