Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched two new and innovative projects called “School on Wheels” and “Library on Wheels” to bring education directly to children and communities that have limited or no access to schools and libraries. These unique programs are designed to reach underserved areas in the province, especially rural and peri-urban regions where educational resources are often lacking.
Both projects use specially designed solar-powered e-rickshaws. These vehicles are eco-friendly and run on solar energy, which makes them sustainable and cost-effective. They are equipped with collapsible chairs and solar roofs, turning the rickshaws into small, mobile classrooms and libraries that can easily travel from one community to another.
The “School on Wheels” project aims to provide basic primary education to children who are unable to attend regular schools. It offers a fun and creative learning environment that encourages young minds to learn through interactive lessons and activities.
The “Library on Wheels” focuses on promoting reading and creativity. It brings storybooks, art materials, and educational toys to children in areas where there are no public or school libraries. This gives children the opportunity to explore books and learning tools that they would otherwise not have access to.
These mobile education services are part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s larger plan to improve education and literacy across Punjab. By reaching children in hard-to-access places, these programs are helping to ensure that every child has a fair chance to learn, grow, and succeed. The initiative is a major step forward in making quality education available to all, no matter where they live.
