Shaheen Afridi at Risk of Losing T20 Captaincy Before World Cup

Shaheen Afridi, who leads Pakistan’s cricket team, might lose his captaincy ahead of the T20 World Cup in June.

Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has been told to think about changing the captain because Shaheen’s team, Lahore Qalandars, did poorly in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 9). They finished last in the tournament.

The report says that the final decision is up to the PCB boss, but not everyone agrees. Some people say Shaheen, who is 23, is too young to be captain. Others in the board say changing captains so close to the World Cup could hurt the team.

If Shaheen is replaced, Mohammad Rizwan, a wicket-keeper batter, might become the new captain. But some people also think Babar Azam, a former captain, could take over.

It’s interesting to note that Babar’s team, Peshawar Zalmi, is at the top of the PSL 9 table, while Rizwan’s team, Multan Sultans, is in second place.
