Former Pakistan cricket captain and Prime Minister Imran Khan was arrested from the premises of the Islamabad High Court ahead of two scheduled hearings. The arrest was carried out by the Parliamentary Forces in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case.
Imran Khan, who is 70 years old, has been accused of corrupt practices under Section 9 (a) of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999. Following his arrest, several Pakistani cricketers, including former fast bowler Wasim Akram and young pacer Shaheen Afridi, expressed their support for him.
Shaheen Afridi showed his support for Imran Khan in a unique way by changing his Twitter profile picture to one where he was seen sitting alongside a former Pakistan cricket legend.Earlier, Wasim Akram had also expressed his support for Imran Khan on Twitter. He wrote, “You are one man, but you have the strength of millions. Stay strong skipper. #BehindYouSkipper.”
