Shaheen Afridi Just 1 Wicket Away from 100 Test Wickets

Pakistan’s talented fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, is close to achieving a significant milestone of taking 100 wickets in Test cricket. After being sidelined for almost a year due to a knee injury suffered during a Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle, Shaheen has made a comeback to red-ball cricket. He recently participated in a two-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

Shaheen began the match by opening the bowling for Pakistan, showcasing his impressive skills of delivering fast-paced deliveries, swinging the ball, and maintaining accuracy in his lengths. In the first innings, he took three wickets, conceding only 36 runs in 12 overs, including three maidens. His outstanding performance contributed to dismissing the opposition for 196 runs before tea.

On the final day of the match, Shaheen continued to impress, securing figures of 4-2-2-1. He played a pivotal role in limiting the hosts to 88 for four as Pakistan set a target of 342 runs for victory. The team’s total was built on significant contributions from Shan Masood, Babar Azam, and Saud Shakeel, all of whom scored half-centuries.

Shaheen’s return to Test cricket and his impactful performances indicate his potential to achieve the milestone of 100 wickets in Test matches. His ability to generate pace, swing the ball, and maintain accuracy makes him a valuable asset for the Pakistan cricket team. Fans and cricket enthusiasts eagerly await his success in reaching this significant milestone in his career.
