The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the August finalists for the ICC Player of the Month awards, which were established in January this year to recognize the greatest international performances across formats for male and female cricketers. Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Afridi was one of the August nominees announced by the International Cricket Council
Following his 10-wicket haul against the Windies in the second match, Shaheen Shah Afridi climbed to a career-high 8th spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings in August. Afridi’s match haul of 10 for 94 assisted him in attaining the achievement, while Fawad Alam’s 124 in the first innings propelled him up 34 places to 21st position.
Afridi’s previous best in the ICC rankings was 18th, while Alam’s prior best was 47th in May of this year. Afridi, the highest-ranked Pakistan bowler in the rankings, was named player of the match as well as player of the series, which was tied in the second game by Men in Green.
