Shaheen Aims to Play Fearless Cricket like Shahid Afridi

Pakistan’s renowned fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, expressed his desire to embody the fearless cricketing spirit of his father-in-law and former captain, Shahid Afridi.

During the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh, the 24-year-old achieved a significant milestone by becoming the fastest fast-bowler to secure 100 wickets in ODIs.

Shaheen achieved this feat in 51 matches, surpassing the record previously held by Australia’s Mitchell Starc, who achieved the same feat in 52 matches.

After Pakistan’s comprehensive seven-wicket victory in successfully chasing down the 205-run target, Shaheen Afridi shared his thoughts. He remarked, “Records are meant to be broken, and it’s a happy occasion that we’ve set records for Pakistan.”

Expressing his admiration for Shahid Afridi, Shaheen emphasized his aspiration to emulate the fearless and dynamic style of his father-in-law. He disclosed, “Shahid Afridi always gives us tips; he is my hero. My effort is to play cricket like him.”
