Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has praised his son-in-law, Shaheen Shah Afridi, for his outstanding performance against Australia. Afridi also encouraged the current captain, Babar Azam, to step up and perform well in important matches.
Afridi commended Shaheen’s five-wicket haul and improved bowling accuracy, as well as the strong opening partnership between Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique.
In the previous game, Pakistan was restricted to 305 runs, resulting in a 62-run loss to Australia, who had set a formidable target of 368 runs, largely due to a remarkable 259-run partnership between David Warner and Mitchell Marsh.
Afridi’s message on social media said, “Shaheen Afridi displayed improved line and length today and achieved a fantastic 5-wicket haul.
The opening partnership by Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique was impressive, but unfortunately, the team couldn’t secure a victory. I have high expectations for Babar Azam to demonstrate his world-class finishing skills in this Cricket World Cup.”
