Sharjah Ruler Cancels Age Requirement for Government Jobs

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has made a significant decision to enhance accessibility to government jobs. Through the ‘Direct Line’ platform, he announced the elimination of age restrictions for employment in the government sector.

Previously, the Social Security Fund Law specified that individuals aged between 18 and 60 were eligible for government jobs. However, His Highness has now abolished this requirement, opening opportunities to people of all ages in the public sector.

Additionally, His Highness directed the appointment of 45 people of determination to various departments and institutions within the Emirate’s government. These 45 individuals, with bachelor, high school, or below secondary degrees, will contribute to a more inclusive workforce.

The implementation of this directive will be a collaborative effort involving Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Sharjah Department of Human Resources, and the University of Sharjah. This joint approach ensures that the recruitment process aligns with the new policy of age inclusivity.
