Climate Change Minister Senator Sherry Rehman’s inclusion in Time magazine’s list of the “100 Most Influential People of 2023” is a source of pride for Pakistani women.
Jennifer Morgan, the Secretary of State and Special Envoy for International Climate Action for Germany, wrote about Sherry Rahman.
Sheery Rahman received appreciation from Morgan for her successful efforts following Pakistan’s disastrous floods in June of last year. Morgan emphasized that the least accountable nations suffer the most. Additionally, he claimed that more than a third of Pakistan experienced flooding because of the country’s climate catastrophe.
Sheery Rehman was described as Pakistan’s minister for climate change by the author, who also praised Sherry for giving voice to those who had lost everything to the floods.
Morgan wrote, “Through impassioned speeches and tireless engagement in negotiations, she convinced many of the delegates that the blatant injustice must come to an end. COP27 ended with a historic decision — the world community agreed for the first time to establish new loss and damage funding arrangements to support the most vulnerable countries.”
“We will need more people like Sherry Rehman along the way,” Morgan declared.
