Awais Qadir Shah, Minister of Transport and Mass Transit, informed the cabinet that his ministry would purchase 250 diesel hybrid electric buses as part of the Sindh Intra-District People Bus Service project.
These buses will run in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad, he told the cabinet.
According to the minister, the Mass Transit Department has employed a specialist consultant and the project would cost Rs8 billion.
The proposal was accepted by the cabinet, and the Transportation Department was given permission to purchase the buses. The chief minister stated that he would provide the department with the requisite funds for the project, describing it as “good news for the citizens of six districts.”
