The Sindh government in Pakistan has decided to launch a “massive” crackdown on the “extortion” mafia operating in the name of charged parking.
Municipal and development bodies have been instructed to immediately cease the activity and approach the police to register FIRs against those involved in illegal parking fee collection.
The move comes after a court order directing civic agencies to end illegal charged parking spots in Karachi, which have contributed to traffic congestion.
Authorities aim to take strict action against those involved in the parking mafia and ensure proper regulation of parking fees in designated areas.
