On Friday, the Sindh cabinet approved spending Rs1.7 billion to purchase 43 additional 12-metre hybrid buses for the city’s Peoples Bus Service, which is currently up and running.
Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon gave a briefing to the cabinet meeting, which was presided over by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, about the idea to add more buses to Karachi.
The CM accepted his suggestion and commanded that Rs1.7 billion be released for the purchase of buses.
Around 250 air-conditioned buses have been purchased from China as part of the PBS project. 130 of them are currently operating on nine distinct routes in Karachi, 10 in Hyderabad, and 6 in Larkana.
