Six donkeys have been detained by the Chitral district government in connection with the smuggling of timber in the Darosh area of the district. The donkeys were impounded after an operation against timber smuggling was carried out by the assistant commissioner of Darosh.
The forest department has been told by the assistant commissioner to appear in court with the donkeys. It is also interesting to note that by smuggling wood to the desired spot on their own, the donkeys demonstrated a high level of intelligence.
Assistant Commissioner Darosh Tausifullah said, “On Tuesday night, we received information that an attempt was being made to take wooden slippers on donkeys to another village. As soon as we reached, the accused fled into the forest. But his unfortunate donkeys were immediately seized and taken to the police station. Lumber mafia henchmen use donkeys to carry lumber down storm drains”.
Tausifullah said that the forest department will present the donkeys to the court. He said that the assistant commissioner has ordered the forest department to produce 6 donkeys in the court.
