Supreme Court of Pakistan Confirms Decision to Remove Monal and Other Restaurants

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has once again confirmed its decision to remove Monal and other restaurants from the Margalla Hills National Park, rejecting appeals that sought to challenge the earlier ruling. The court strongly criticized these review petitions, calling them disrespectful and unnecessary, and emphasized the importance of shutting down these establishments as previously ordered.

The court’s ruling highlights the need to protect the natural environment within the Margalla Hills National Park and to enforce regulations that prohibit commercial activities in such areas. The removal of the restaurants is seen as a step towards preserving the park’s natural beauty and wildlife.

To carry out this decision, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Capital Territory Police have been given the responsibility to ensure that the restaurants are removed and demolished. They are instructed to complete this process with care to minimize any harm to the wildlife that lives in the park.

Additionally, the Wildlife Board will be in charge of overseeing the restoration of the site once the restaurants have been removed. They will also work on repurposing the area to ensure it aligns with the park’s environmental needs and regulations.

This decision by the Supreme Court sends a strong message about the importance of maintaining environmental integrity and respecting the laws that govern protected areas like national parks. It reinforces the idea that commercial interests cannot take priority over preserving nature.
