Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan recovered Rs. 800 billion during the past year through enforcement and improved revenue collection, without placing additional taxes on the public.
The prime minister made the remarks while meeting members of the country’s business and industrial community. He said the government was working on structural reforms to improve economic performance and create stronger links with the private sector.
According to Shehbaz Sharif, increasing exports should remain a key priority for Pakistan. He said sustainable economic progress would depend on expanding exports, attracting investment and improving the country’s overall productivity.
The government has been holding consultations with business representatives on economic reforms and tax-related policies. These discussions are aimed at addressing concerns from the private sector while encouraging investment and export growth.
The reported Rs800 billion recovery was achieved through enforcement measures rather than the introduction of new taxes, according to the prime minister.
The government has also been focusing on improving compliance and making revenue collection more effective through existing mechanisms.
Shehbaz Sharif stressed that cooperation between the government and business community would be important for Pakistan’s economic future.
He said reforms should help create conditions where businesses can expand, investment can increase and exports can become a stronger source of economic growth.
Further consultations with businesses are expected as the government continues working on measures related to economic reforms, investment and exports.
