According to data released on Monday, non-production days and a fall in purchasing power contributed to a 65 percent drop in passenger car sales for Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) members in January 2023 compared to January 2022.
Sales in January 2023 were 5,64% lower than the 13,780 units sold in December 2022. Sales of cars with engines larger than 1300cc were registered at 4,207 units during this period, down 55.5 percent from the 9,456 units sold during the same period last year.
Sales of 1000cc vehicles totaled 1,214 units in January 2023 (543 Suzuki Cultus and 671 Suzuki WagonR), down from 2,709 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.
