Taliban have resumed trade with Pakistan After retaking Kabul

On Thursday, trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan resumed at the Spin Boldak/Chaman crossing.

As the shock of the country’s political upheaval produced by the Taliban’s control begins to wear off, commercial traffic has resumed.

Several truckloads of agricultural products were driven across the border from Kandahar province, according to Reuters.

“Today, many trucks filled with fresh fruit (from Afghanistan), including famed ‘Sunder-Khani’ grapes, were cleared at Customs House Chaman,” a senior customs officer told the media.

A Pakistani official spoke to Reuters on the condition of anonymity, saying that since the Kabul takeover, trade has slowly picked up again from both sides, and “empty trucks were also coming back to Chaman without any difficulty.”
