It was confirmed last month that the Etihad Rail’s UAE track is ready to be operational.
A freight train can be witnessed using the track to transport goods across the UAE.
A Twitter post is captioned, “Etihad Rail’s freight services are now fully operational, offering comprehensive end-to-end transport solutions that cater to all your business needs. With our cutting-edge fleet, we can efficiently transport any type of cargo across the UAE.”
Currently, it’s operational for freight services whereas, it hasn’t announced yet for the passengers.
Etihad is accessing from the border of Saudi Arabia to the border of Oman, with 1,200 km network extends across the country,
Whereas, the passengers train service will connect 11 cities and regions across the UAE, when it started.
It will start from Al Sila to Fujairah including Al Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Dhaid and Abu Dhabi. The hope is this will reduce the number of people who commute by car between the Emirates by 30 to 40 percent.
The Etihad will also connect Sohar in Oman to Abu Dhabi in the UAE, via Sohar Port to the UAE National Rail Network. Trains are expected to take 1 hour 40 minutes to move between Abu Dhabi and Sohar, and just 47 minutes to travel from Al Ain to Sohar.
