The FBR has raised customs duties on Chinese mobile accessories

The Directorate General of Customs Valuation in Karachi has enhanced the customs values of Chinese-origin mobile phone accessories to calculate duties and taxes at the import stage accurately.

Customs values in US dollars ranging from $0.06 to $7 will be charged by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to import various types of mobile phone accessories. The minimal customs values have been established based on the kind of accessory and its place of origin.

The directorate has issued valuation ruling 1580 of 2021, which replaces the previous ruling 1448 of 2020. On Thursday, the directorate notified all Model Customs Collectorates (MCCs) of the new regulation.

After completing a full market survey and hearing from stakeholders/importers, the directorate has re-determined the values under section 25-A of the Customs Act 1969. For clearance under the WEBCO system, the directorate has additionally assigned new Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) categories to each mobile phone accessory.

The FBR has divided mobile phone accessories into three groups and produced three new value tables: Category-A (16 items), Category-B (15 items), and Category-C (20 items) (10 items).
