Abdul Razaq Dawood, the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Commerce and Investment, said on Saturday that the government has set an export target of US $ 35 billion for Fiscal Year 2021-22.
“We estimate exports of US $ 30 billion in the current fiscal year, including US $25 billion in goods exports and US $ 5 billion in services sector,” said Advisor Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, adding that the export target for the following fiscal year (2021022) has been increased to US $ 35 billion.
He made these statements when speaking during the government’s post-budget briefing for 2021-22, which he was joined by Minister of Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin and other top officials.
He said the government was concentrating on both traditional and new exports, such as engineering, medicines, information technology, and food processing.
The pharmaceutical sector did well this year, according to the advisor, and attempts to encourage imports of this sector will continue in the coming years.
Similarly, he said, the textile industry performed well, with exports reaching US$ 15.5 billion this year and expected to reach US$ 20 billion next year.
According to Razak Dawood, the government has reduced tariff taxes on export raw materials in the upcoming budget to encourage the ‘Make in Pakistan’ movement and boost our country’s exports.
