The M5 Multan-Sukkur Motorway Now Uses an Automatic Transport Monitoring System.

On the M5 Multan-Sukkur Motorway, an automatic transport monitoring system has been installed.

The M5 will be Pakistan’s first highway to have an automated transportation system. The system’s 269 cameras, according to the National Highway and Motorway Police, would continuously watch all moving cars.

According to the IG National Highway and Motorway Police, 77 hotspots for excessive speeding had the system implemented. In order to assure constant surveillance of the route and quick response to any violations, he noted that speed cameras have been erected at intervals of five km.

The M1, M2, M3, and M4 motorways will have the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) installed by the National Highways and Motorway Police in two years.

The Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and the National Highway Authority (NHA) have signed a contract for the implementation of ITS, according to a National Highway and Motorway Police officer who made the announcement in March.

A few challenges, he claimed, stand in the way of Pakistan’s adoption of this system. He mentioned that it can be challenging to assign challans when numerous family members utilize the same vehicle.

Additionally, the ITS is having trouble locating unregistered automobiles with open letters. He claimed that a robust database is necessary for an accurate and effective ITS system. The National Highway and Motorway Police’s ITS system will represent a significant step towards modernization despite the difficulties.
