The Medicinal Fruit In Quran, Fig, Also Known As Anjeer.

University of Scranton performed a study in which importance of dried Fig was realized, compared to other fruits dried fig has numerous benefits, it has much higher level of Phenol makeup, which is rich in antioxidants, which is used to kill microorganisms as an antiseptic.

Figs are considered a fruit which provides a human being with strength and long term patient with enormous energy to recover. They are recommended by researchers to use for treating asthma, chills, diabetes and coughs. An effective syrup for cough and Bronchial asthma is also made from it with methi seeds and honey in it. The phosphorus content of fig benefits the nervous system of a human being as well.

It is very well suited for people looking after their weight or trying to lose some KGs. It has digestive system enzymes for all three components of a diet which are fat, carbs and protein.

However, centuries before all these researches, the importance of Figs have been mentioned in Quranic verses. The first Quranic verses of Surah Al Teen, the medical advantages of Fig are mentioned, Quran says, “I swear by the Fig and the Olive”. (Surah number 95: verse number 1).

There are only five plants mentioned in Quran, Fig is one of them along with Olives, pomegranate, grapes and dates.

According to one the Hadiths, there is an event present related to Fig as well, according to Abu Darda, a person presented Figs to Prophet Muhammad PBUH and he distributed them to his followers as well and he said, “ eat Fig as it cures many diseases”. Fig denotes wealth and prosperity if seen in dreams, according to a scholar in dreams name Ibn Seereen. There are several benefits other than mentioned above, which shows the compassion Allah has for human beings.
