The co-founders of Instagram’s news app Artefact introduced a new AI tool on Tuesday that can give article summaries. This feature is intriguing since it may sum up articles in a variety of ways, some of which are humorous and others of which are very helpful. After selecting the “Aa” icon at the top of the screen, users can access the feature by tapping the “Summarise” option.
The summary will show up in a black box at the top of the screen in a matter of seconds. By using the three dots menu in the same black box, you may also choose alternative summary tones, such as “Emoji,” “Poem,” “Gen Z,” and “Explain Like I’m Five.”
In The Verge’s tests, the tool performed unexpectedly well across all of its tone options. The “Explain Like I’m Five” choice is just as direct as you would imagine, while the “Poem” option, while occasionally a touch wrong, often works. The fundamental “Summary” tone, however, is the option that is the most reliable of all.
We advise reading the complete article and comparing it with the summary to ensure that no significant information was omitted or incorrect data was generated, as Artefact cautions that its AI tool can make mistakes.
