Touseef Ahmed Appointed as Interim Chief Selector of Pakistan Cricket Team

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former cricketer Tauseef Ahmed as the interim chief selector for the national team, following the resignation of Inzamam ul Haq last month. Tauseef Ahmed, along with the selection committee, will be responsible for picking the national squad for the upcoming Australia tour, which includes a three-match Test series following the ICC World Cup 2023.

The PCB has also named ex-cricketer Wajahatullah Wasti as the head of the junior selection committee. Both new appointees are existing members of the selection committee.

Inzamam’s decision to step down from the chief selector position during the World Cup 2023 was due to allegations linking him to a company managing players. Inzamam clarified that he resigned because questions were raised about him.

Concerns arose when it was revealed that Inzamam had shares in a company owned by players’ agent Talha Rehmani, who represents several prominent Pakistani cricketers. PCB’s Media and Communications head emphasized that Inzamam had a responsibility to disclose any potential conflicts of interest to the cricket board.
