Turkey Begins to Rebuild for 1.5 Million Left Homeless by Earthquakes

Erdogan, Turkish President gaged to reconstruct homes within a year, although experts appetite safety should be the priority rather than speed.

Turkey stepped forward to reconstruct homes for the affectees of the havoc earthquake that hit it’s border region with Syria, as around 1.5 million people were left homeless.

More than 160,000 buildings consists 520,000 apartments crumbled or were severely damaged in 6 February which left around 50,000 people dead between Turkey and Syria. Turkey’s Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu stated around 150,000 commercial premises affected moderately.

He stated that authorities are conducting an investigation to building contractors suspected of breaching safety standards and multiplying the scale of havoc, with 564 suspects identified and 160 formally arrested.
