UAE Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi Awarded as Personality of the Year At Sharjah Summit

At the 10th Sharjah Government Communication Award held within the International Government Communication Forum at Sharjah Expo Center, Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi was honored with the prestigious ‘Personality of the Year’ award. The event culminated in an award ceremony, recognizing remarkable contributions in government communication and innovation.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, personally presented awards to the deserving recipients. One notable awardee was American judge Frank Caprio, who received the ‘Best Positive Social Impact Driver’ award. Frank Caprio, the former Chief Judge of the Municipal Court of Providence in the USA, gained global recognition on social media for his compassionate and equitable rulings, earning him the endearing title of ‘the nicest judge in the world.’

Moreover, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of Sharjah Government Media Bureau, emphasized SGCA’s decade-long dedication to raising government communication standards. He stressed the importance of adapting communication strategies to keep up with evolving information trends, technologies, public perceptions, and global events.

A significant moment of the event was the unveiling of an innovative report titled ‘100 Innovations in Government Communications 2023.’ This collaborative report between SGMB and Apolitical from the United Kingdom showcased inventive communication approaches adopted by governments worldwide. Furthermore, it offered a unique insight into how governments are experimenting with bold strategies to enhance communication and better serve the people and the planet. Moreover, the report aimed to inspire 21st-century governments to effectively engage with their citizens using innovative and progressive communication methodologies.
