UAE Golden Visa for Employees – Everything You Need to Know

The UAE’s Golden Visa program is designed to attract and retain skilled professionals, investors, and entrepreneurs by offering long-term residency and various benefits. This program aims to enhance the country’s talent pool and boost its economic growth.

Benefits of the Golden Visa

The Golden Visa provides several advantages, including multiple entry permits, extended residency, and the ability to sponsor family members. Visa holders can live and work in the UAE without needing a local sponsor or employer, making it easier for them to engage in business activities and investments.

Eligibility for Skilled Workers

Professionals in the UAE are eligible for a Golden Visa if they meet specific criteria. This includes having a valid employment contract for a job classified under occupational levels 1 or 2 by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre). Additionally, expats must have a basic monthly salary of at least Dh30,000.

For those working with mainland companies, a Ministry of Labour contract showing a salary of Dh30,000 or more is required. Employees of free zone companies need a salary certificate from the relevant free zone authority confirming the same salary threshold.

Application Process

To apply for a Golden Visa, professionals must visit approved typing centers or visa processing centers for assistance in filling out forms and submitting necessary documents. Residents in other emirates can apply through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICA) either online or in person at ICA-approved typing centers.

Golden Visa Nomination Steps

  1. Visit the ICP website.
  2. Navigate to ‘Services’ and select ‘Golden Visa’.
  3. Choose the appropriate category and follow the instructions.
  4. Create an account on the ICA smart services portal.
  5. Verify the account, log in, and apply for nomination.
  6. Submit the completed application through the preferred channel.

Applicants will receive SMS and email notifications about the status of their application.

Other Categories for Golden Visa

The Golden Visa is also available to investors, entrepreneurs, and talented individuals in fields like science, sports, and knowledge. Outstanding students with high GPAs and professionals with specialized degrees in critical fields such as AI, big data, and biotechnology are also eligible.

Dubai offers additional categories like the 10-year Gaming Visa for top gamers and content creators, and Golden Visas for exceptional private sector educators.

The UAE’s Golden Visa program is a strategic initiative to attract and retain top talent from around the world, providing a range of benefits to skilled professionals and other eligible individuals. With its focus on enhancing the country’s workforce and economic potential, the Golden Visa program continues to draw significant interest from expatriates seeking long-term residency and career opportunities in the UAE.
