The holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr dates for 2024 have been predicted in advance by the UAE’s astronomical authorities.
According to Ibrahim Al-Jaroon, Chairman of the UAE Astronomy Society Board, astronomical calculations indicate that the new moon of Rabi Al-Awwal will likely be spotted on September 16 this year.
Based on predictions on these astronomical positions, the month of Ramadan in 2024 is expected to commence in the second week of March. However, the exact start date will be confirmed only after the new moon sighting.
Similarly, the date for Eid al-Fitr will be announced after the Shawwal moon sighting, marking the end of Ramadan.
Advance predictions allow government entities, businesses, and educational institutes to plan activities, holidays, and work schedules well in advance.
While astronomical calculations serve as a helpful guide, the UAE reconfirms Ramadan and Eid dates annually through the moon-sighting committee. We eagerly await the final confirmation on the auspicious dates for 2024.
