The UAE has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new world record for the highest number of online organ donation registrations within a single hour. Over 4,000 residents enthusiastically signed up for Hayat, the National Programme for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues, established under the Ministry of Health and Prevention in September 2020.
Before the online drive, 21,357 UAE residents had already registered as organ donors. In just one hour, an additional 4,010 donors joined, bringing the total to an impressive 25,367. This not only showcases the community’s positive spirit but also establishes a new global record for online donor registration.
The initiative aims to foster a culture of solidarity within the community, encouraging individuals to contribute to the noble cause of organ donation.
The UAE has been actively promoting organ transplantation, with more than 460 transplants conducted since 2017, including 111 operations in the year 2023 alone. This latest achievement reflects the nation’s commitment to advancing healthcare and saving lives through organ donation.
