UK to Install Modern Security Machines at Pakistan Airports

For airport security, the British Department for Transport (DFT) has opted to provide modern machinery to Pakistan.

Sources claim that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has chosen to equip the airports in Lahore and Karachi with cutting-edge security equipment supplied by DFT.

The machines’ modern technology allows them to inspect passengers’ bags and luggage.

The British Department for Transport will provide this equipment free of charge to the CAA (DFT).

In February of last year, an agreement was reached between the management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the British Department for Transport (DfT) to set up a whole new security system at the nation’s airports.

Sources said these machines would not only increase the efficiency and speed of holding baggage screening but would also result in the removal of additional measures on hold baggage screening for UK-bound flights.

“The UK High Commission is trying its best to get the machines shipped through its contractor as soon as possible to Pakistan,” they say.

Recent discussions between the CAA, DFT, and UK aviation have been hailed as exceedingly favourable, which is a sign that the UK intends to open its airports for airlines of Pakistani origin.
