Umar Gul, a former Pakistan pacer, has been named bowling coach and consultant for Afghanistan’s men’s national cricket team. Gul is expected to join the squad camp in Abu Dhabi on April 4, according to a Cricket Pakistan report.

In 13 years of service to the Pakistan national cricket squad, Gul took 427 wickets in 237 international games across all formats. The 37-year-old has coached with the PSL’s Quetta Gladiators and Galle Gladiators (in LPL).

“It’s a pleasure to be involved with an international squad after coaching in the PSL, KPL, LPL, and domestic levels.” Gul was cited by Cricket Pakistan as saying, “I will do my best to help the Afghan bowlers with my experience.”
