USAID Announces 500 Scholarships for Students of Flood-Hit Districts

On Tuesday, USAID announced that 500 university students from flood-affected areas would get scholarships to help them finish their higher education.

At a ceremony held on Tuesday to commemorate International Women’s Day at Higher Education Islamabad, US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome made this announcement.

According to the US ambassador, providing scholarships to students in disaster-prone areas is done in order to give those people additional attention.

According to Donald Bloom, higher-class students in Pakistan’s flood-affected districts merit special consideration, hence 60% of these scholarships are being awarded to female students.
Speaking at the event, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal noted that it is difficult to provide educational opportunities for Pakistan’s youth, who make up two-thirds of the country’s population.
