According to the latest news, the Pakistani Universal Service Fund (USF) is working on a project to deliver high-speed mobile internet and telecom services at the 300-kilometer Dera Ismail Khan-Hakla motorway.
Within a year, travellers on the Dera Ismail Khan-Hakla motorway will have access to high-speed mobile internet and cellular services. As per the USF, the project’s entire cost is Rs. 300 million, and the tendering process has been completed. The board of the USF will also shortly approve a tendering proposal, following which construction on the project will begin.
Haris Mahmood Chaudary, CEO of USF stated that the project will take one month to complete. He explained that the USF finds places with service concerns after gathering data through questionnaires.
He added that the USF finds the places with service concerns and prepares the lots for coverage after collecting data through surveys.
According to Chaudary, 4G towers will also be built on the DI Khan-Halka Motorway to enable high-speed connectivity. Further, he said that the motorway is an important part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor’s (CPEC) western route, adding that the high-speed connectivity will not only improve people’s living standards, but also provide new job opportunities.
