Wahab Riaz, the sports advisor to the caretaker chief minister of Punjab, has revealed that a stipend will be provided to Zayed Sharif, a former Pakistani Olympian who has been struggling financially since falling ill.
Sharif, a retired national hockey player who had previously worked for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), came to the attention of Wahab Riaz after a heart-wrenching interview with a media outlet went viral on social media.
“I spent my whole pension for my treatment and now doing job as a security guard to bear medical and food expenses,” he told the interviewer.
