Water Worth $15 Billion Wasted Every Year in Pakistan

Syed Khurshid Shah Federal Minister for Water Resources stated that water of worth $10-15 billion is wasting every year by us, while we are looking to the world for a help of $2 billion.

The minister stated while speaking at the LCCI (Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

He highlighted that our Pakistan’s water capacity was 140 million acre feet whereas it could only store 13 million acre.

Infrastructure should be built in order to increase the storage capacity with 14 to 15 million acre feet.

Shah stated that government was endeavouring to increase agriculture production to export the produce but floods gave out a big blow to the plan.

He highlighted that our 80% of the economy is based on agriculture but it got ignored.

  1. the major part of water falls in sindh area.. and the Sindh Govt. doesn’t care about ever . they only thinking about to grab and corrupt the money.
