Shan Masood, a top-order batter for Multan Sultans in Pakistan’s eighth Pakistan Super League (PSL), claimed that other players, including himself, are willing to sacrifice their lives for Babar Azam.
In an interview with a private TV network, Shan said that Babar has the support of all the players. The batter declared that they were willing to give their lives when Sarfaraz Ahmed was our captain, and now they are willing to give their lives for Babar Azam.
Speaking about the criticism of the skipper and Pakistan team, Shan said that the leader comes first. “We watch a lot of news on criticism of the team, but we don’t get bothered by them as our mutual goal is Pakistan and to play for our country,” he added.

Babar receives a lot of flak for his poor T20 strike rate. His captaincy decisions on the field have also drawn criticism from certain cricket analysts and fans. Under Babar’s leadership, Pakistan also failed to win a single Test match at home last year and suffered a 2-1 defeat to New Zealand in a three-match ODI series earlier this year.
Nonetheless, the right-handed batter guided Pakistan to the semifinals of back-to-back T20 World Championships in 2021 and 2022, where they ultimately ended as runners-up.
