We Did Not Select Sharjeel Khan Because of the Spot-Fixing Scandal, Says Shahid Afridi

Pakistan’s opening batsman Sharjeel Khan’s possibility to get back to Pakistan’s white-ball squad was delayed as PCB’s selection committee couldn’t get green sign for the left hander’s involvement.

Sharjeel was involved in 24 probable players for the series and was one of the favourites for the involvement in three ODIs against New Zealand.

Whereas, he was not included in the 16 players squad announced recently.

“Sharjeel Khan was included in the probable players list seeing his performance in domestic but was not retained in final squad as I did not get green signal from PCB chairman on his inclusion in the team,” said Afridi pointing towards the spot-fixing scandal highlighted during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in UAE.
