WhatsApp is working on a new messaging feature dubbed message reactions, according to reports. Message reaction is exactly what it sounds like: the ability to use an emoji to respond to a text message. While it has always been possible to respond to a message by quoting it and then sending an emoji, message reactions will make the experience for WhatsApp users much more simple
WABetainfo was the first to notice evidence of message reactions in WhatsApp, and expects that the functionality will be accessible in a future update for beta testers. Once this capability is rolled out to users, WhatsApp users should be able to add emoji expressions to individual messages, similar to Instagram DM.
Unfortunately, we can’t say when this function will be available to all WhatsApp users, and the fact that it’s already in testing doesn’t help matters either – WhatsApp often tests new features like this for months before deciding whether or not they’re worth releasing. So, for the time being, rest assured that one of the most requested additions is in the works.
WhatsApp may have a large user base, but it is frequently found to be missing in features when compared to many of its competitors, and this is often by purpose. People, on the other hand, miss some things more than others.
