Digital assistants such as Google Assistant for Android and Siri for iOS have made it possible for WhatsApp users to send messages without having to type them in on the app if they are busy at work.
The user must ask the digital assistant to read out messages in order to use the feature. For access to the phone’s notifications, the assistant will ask for permission.
To get certain permission, Google will display a message that says, “To hear your messages, calendar events, and other important info, give the Google app access to your notifications.” This permission can be revoked by disabling Google’s notification access in the Notification section of the phone’s settings.
