Kiran Khatri, a resident of Mithi in the Tharparkar district of Sindh, has achieved something remarkable. She passed the Central Superior Service (CSS) exam and secured a position in the inland revenue service. Kiran is the first woman from Thar and the only Hindu girl from Tharparkar to pass this exam. She is also the third Hindu girl in Sindh to achieve this milestone.
Kiran initially wanted to join the police force but was selected for a position in the inland revenue sector instead. Her training is scheduled to start in October, and she is excited about the significant responsibilities that come with her new role.
Kiran completed her MBBS from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Jamshoro in 2020. After graduating, she worked as a house officer at Civil Hospital, Hyderabad in 2021. She later became a lecturer at Indus Medical College, Tando Mohammad Khan.
During her house job, Kiran witnessed the challenges faced by doctors, which motivated her to prepare for the CSS exam. She dedicated herself to studying diligently at home in Mithi, with the support of her father, who is a deputy director in the education department. She also used online resources like YouTube to access CSS-related content.
Kiran actively used social media to focus solely on her CSS preparation. She is grateful for the unwavering support she received from her parents throughout her journey.Tharparkar, the largest district in Sindh, has a population of 1.6 million, with about half of the residents being Hindus. In Sindh’s health department, Hindus account for around 30 percent of the medical staff, including a significant number of female doctors.
